Software engineering is a very important area of Informatics. Despite a real progress made in the area, the every day practice still is far from satisfactory and a lot should be done to improve it. A key issue in improving software engineering practice is education and training and key issue in improving software engineering education is getting industrial input. The symposium aims at encouraging academia and industry to work in a more long-term, strategic way to narrow the gap between what a university graduate learns as a student of software engineering (computer science) and what is expected from that graduate once she/he begins to work as a software engineer. Besides papers written by researchers and lecturers, we expect industry practitioners to write papers on how to improve the profession of software engineering from industrial point of view.
